Tira and I drove the Alaska Highway for the first time in March of '89 in our '83 Datsun Pickup. It was 'freezing' cold. (There's a story there, just ask me!) During the trip up it didn't get below -25F, but only a few days prior we had left the relative warmth of Oklahoma. Trust me, that was plenty cold!!
See the [frozen] moisture wreathing the thermometer? That's a sign that it's warmed up recently. In Fairbanks it has to warm up to snow. When it stays below 0F all the moisture freezes out of the air and it is dry dry dry.
They're fish.
You know, Alaska Salmon.
Red salmon straight from the Copper River around Gulkana, to be more specific.
